With the example of Hilma af Klint, Emma Toll and Hedvig Strandberg, the art historian and librarian Anna-Lena Jönsson looks back in time. We begin with the observation that it was these three who first became members of the Föreningen Svenska Artistinnor in 1910. Anna-Lena moves between the years 1864 and 1910, making digressions into how women created themselves space and sometimes faced resistance in different artistic contexts. She does not know exactly how close Hilma, Emma and Hedvig really were to each other, but they seemed at the same time and within similar circles. Through careful research Anna-Lena has found several occasions, in addition to the year 1910, where all three are mentioned together.
